Halloween stitch almost done. A new start ...

Hidee Ho Ladies ... I have *almost* finished my one Halloween treat this year. This is from Stoney Creeks' 2008 October issue. It's called "Will Spook For Food", affectionately known as "Frank".

I changed it to "candy" because I thought food sounded a little too desperate. :o) You can see where I ran out of 741. That's all I need to finish him. Frank is done on an old 16ct fabric by ... someone ... called "Night". It just seemed appropriate. I'm thinking he needs some sort of border though.

But I'm guessing it might be awhile before I might/might not get around to it as I just started this one today. It's Mira's Letter M. I finally got around to buying it and the recommended CC's for it. I took a trip to Acorn and Threads a few days ago and got these.

This is as far as I've gotten so far today. She's done on a Silkweaver 28ct linen called "Blue Dynasty". Moving right along.

Buh Bye

Another little Halloween finish

Hiya. Here's a cute lil thing I finished yesterday. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to do little ornament type stuff that you can complete in a day or two. :o)

This is "Smell My Feet" out of the JCS Halloween issue. It's done on the same 28 ct "Night" by Sugar Maple Fabrics, and also with Crescent Colors. I opted to change the socks (obviously) to green and orange striped, which has moved it out of the realm of Halloween ornament stuff to the Pippi Longstocking genre. For me. Pippi and Judy Blume got me through my ugly pre-teen years, if yaknowwhadimean.

Rv Living: Takes a little getting used to, but is totally worth it. I imagine it's going to get mighty cold in here. I've bought some space heaters and electric blankets (1 for bed and other for where I sit 'n stitch).

The shower just all around bites. I like my long, hot showers. Those are out. Not to mention having to wash and pre-condition my hair 'cuz I can't even hang in there for the 10 minutes it takes to put in and let the KPak sit. I dunno if I've ever mentioned it, but I gotta lotta hair. Fortunately I only use the stuff 2x/week. Love my KPak. I highly recommend it. I'm not looking forward to the dead of winter in a cold RV with wet hair while it ferments.

The only other serious problem I can find is, well, I'm going to try not to sound like a cab driver here so I'll just say these short little 5 words: RV toilet, my fat butt.

'Nuff said. ;o)

I'm working on another of the Halloween ornaments, that'll be done either this morning or tonight.

Lovely Monday ladies.

Whoot! Got my all in one hooked up ... finally. :o( But pictures!!

First one is the Britter Kitty Halloween ornament from the JCS Halloween issue. I just did this one today - took about 6 hrs. All in Crescent Colors that I had and done on 32 ct "Night" by Sugar Maple Fabrics. I thought it was cute. :o) This is my first Brittercup too but hey, any cat with a tattoo is a cute cat. heh.

Next is my Deepest Love by Mira. This is where I was on her about 2 weeks ago.

I have been working on her, but I decided I had to start another in between this one so the next pics are of Crystal Symphony by Mira as well. It was kitted up and I was looking for something fairly easy to start so out she came.

I got quite a bit finished on her so far, almost all of the skirt. Minus the flowers. I finished the one in the corner then decided I didn't like the color combo of them so I am still debating, but will probably go with yellow roses instead of the almost cartoonishly colored reds. Also, was kinda shocked after I got into this one by how blue everything is. Looking at the picture I thought it was going to be mostly gray's.

That should be enough for today's pics. I have a coupla finishes (Mira's that I'd started awhile back) but that can wait til next time.

Anyway, lovely weekend ladies!

The point where I'm really disliking this stitch ...

I'm guessing Nora didn't expect the demarcation to be so distinct on her wings. Gotta love those Crescent Colors. :o) Which I do, just every once in awhile you get some seriously dark batch. Oh well.

Now the question is to finish or not to finish? I'm gonna think about this one for awhile and work on something else.

I got some time before Thanksgiving. heh.

Happy Tuesday Ladies!

7.27.2008

My next almost finished Mira ...

This is the stitch I opted to start after the last finish: Mira's Thanksgiving Fairy. This is at 3 - almost 4 - days. I imagine she'll be done soon. These little ones seem to go that way. :o)

Happy Monday ladies!

7.22.2008

Finished ...

She's done! I love that almost-instant gratification thing. :o) Only took a week. Excuse the hoop marks and whatnot. But she's done, all recommended stuff given in the kit. Although I did change the hair, I got a really dark batch of Bramble Bush and it just did not look right. This is better to me.

Haven't decided what I'm going to either start, finish or work on next. I am working on organizing my charts, got these things laying all OVER the place. :o( What's another coupla binders, eh? heh.

Have you seen these?? These came in my email from ABC Stitch Therapy. I really like this first one, it's awful purdy, but I'm thinking this is way too much for my attention span.

I am liking the colors of this second one. And am seriously considering buying it. Although, it might kill my Sampler binge all together. :o)

Anyway, happy Tuesday ladies!

7.15.2008

Short Picture Post

Took last night off (1st day off in 12 days), and while I did some stitching, mostly I slept. Those 12 hr shifts take a toll. :o)

This is where I am on my Xmas Fairy. Gettin' there.

Oh, and I opted to not use the Wisper Thread, I just don't like that stuff. I have it all over my Winter Queen and ... nah. Not for this one.

Happy Tuesday all.

7.14.2008

Another "drive-by" posting ...

This is what I started yesterday, worked on it for 7 hrs ... whew! Doesn't look like much but it sure seemed like I was pulling teeth.

Lovely Monday ladies ...

7.09.2008

I think I got it ... pictures!!

Oh man, I got the scanner figured out (why can't it be easy? I have the disc, I should be able to just put it in and go. Sheesh.) !! I got a couple of pictures here - whoot!!

First: my 4th of July Holiday Sampler. Isn't it a cute lil bugger?! Well, not so little - about 9" by 12" +/-. But still cute. I don't remember the name for this one (I've already traded it off) but I got it from the bargain bin at the LNS.

Next: my *almost* finished "The Sampler Lady" by Little House Needleworks. *Almost* as when it came to the skirt I didn't wanna finish the fill in with the colors I had so for now she's in stasis. She's done in almost all Crescent Colors but for the red which is DMC variegated and the lettering which is WDW. I've been wanting to use this color on something - I realize it doesn't really go with this one but creative license is one of the joys of stitching, right?! Oh, and on a random Ivory 28 ct. fabric I had laying around.

And this last picture is Valerie Pfeiffer's "Sitting Pretty". I've always been in love with this stitch and bought it from TeeJay a little while back and whipped it out in about 2 wks.

So that's it for pictures for now, I'll take s'more later. I have quite a few things I'm working on.

In other stitching news, I said a little while back that I went on a sampler tear a few weeks ago ... I'm currently working on LHN's "A Friendship Tree". I'm about finished with the tree. Or will be when I frog the middle branch on the right (off by 1) and the bottom on same side, it's off by 1/2. :o( I did the branches first then the leaves. Apparently I can't count. ::sigh:: I'll get it.

And I bought quite a few other LHN samplers and various others. I don't want to overwhelm with pics.

Until next time: Happy Stitching!!

1.30.2008

Some finishes ...

My goodness, I've been stitching but fighting w/my computer. Anyway, here's my finishes from the last 2 weeks:

1st: Be Kind And Your Heart Will Grow. Got it out of the new JCS. Done with the DMC variegated 'cuz I wanted to see how they looked, a little too strong for my tastes but it only took a day to do. Done on 32 ct Silkweaver Rocky Mtn.

2nd: Let's All Sing Like The Birdies Sing. Another from the same JCS issue. Done all with Crescent Colors on some random 28 ct blue fabric I have. This one took about 3 days to finish.

And 3rd: Mira's Halloween Fairy. I finally made it over to Acorns and Threads during the day to buy the threads I needed to finish her. Been working on her for the last week. Changed out quite a few things on her but she's done.

So, I'm thinking that I'm going to try and dedicate myself to finishes this year. Mostly the big ones that I've started, I only have maybe 6 that could get finished fairly easily. Of course I'll be doing others as I go along with my WIP's but really, I started them because I wanted to see them done. No one else is going to do them so I'm naming 2008 my Stop Procrastinating And Do Them year. SPADT. Eh, maybe. The name needs some work. :o)

Here's an amusing story, to me. When I went to Acorns & Threads this last week I was chatting with the friendly young lady behind the counter about threads and stuff. I was saying that I
never get out during the day because I work 7p-7a and they're on the other side o' town so I just can't seem to work it out. She asked what I do, I tell her and she says "You have a blog, huh?" Yes, I do. "Heard in my cab, right?" My God, yes. "I've read it, my sister is a dispatcher in Salem for a cab company and we laugh about your stories all the time."

... !

I was so in shock I forgot to ask her name, but I will when I head back there next time. She was pretty cool to chat with.

I got a reader!! tee hee. She's the first person I've met that has read my blog. That didn't know who I was to begin with anyway, we did have the 2007 TequilaCon meeting of bloggers here in Ptld.

Anyway, ladies, have fun!

Happy Holidays Ladies!

I'm gonna be taking a break 'til the New Year, this is going to be a busy week for me. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are in a beautiful place when the ball drops!

9.05.2007

A little progress, and a new start

Here's where I got bored w/Halloween Fairy. The only part left to finish is the wings and that bit on her bodice that I don't have floss for. I changed the wings to 1-over on the main part, I didn't like the streakiness of the floss so this makes it less harsh. I also gave her a right shoulder. No woman deserves to be that flat. heh.

This other I started last night, it's called 'Beach Escape' out of JCS mag. This took about 6 hrs. and is about 1/2 done. I owe someone something and I just have not got around to doing this. Arrgh. And I'm not even going to talk about my PIF gifts yet.

8.28.2007

I'm back, and making something else now!

Here's Mira's Halloween Fairy. I traded my New Years Fairy chart and leftover floss to Jules @ Torkard Threads for her Halloween Fairy and floss. I got this in the mail on the 24th so this is 4 days of working on her. I'm putting her on 32 ct Silkweaver 'Rocky Mountain', they seem to go together well.

I tell ya, that living in the hotel ... for the birds. Hated every minute of it. I missed my 'stuff', ya know? I hadn't realized how attached to my stand and Ott Lite I am.

For the record, no, I wasn't sitting on the toilet when it fell. I came home to a horrible stench. Wanna see??? (the floor, not the stench :o) And before anyone asks, no, the termites did not cut that perfect rectangle in the wood. This is the part that had to be replaced, all the rest was fine.

This is the after. I've been here just over 7 yrs now so I got a whole new linoleum update too as the other stuff was so old they don't have it any longer. And I so miss the Salmon Sparkle wall paint with that pretty baby blue linoleum. ;o)

8.13.2007

New Year's Fairy ...

... finished. Finally. Took 35 hrs but she's done. I changed a few things: I got rid of the funny looking beads that were to be used as the sashing for the clock, I didn't like them once they were on there. I made the bodice and crown all in beads, just 'cuz. And I changed the time on her clock to 11:55, just seemed a little more appropriate.

So there we have her, not done in 24 hrs, but close enough. :o)

8.06.2007

And at 24 hrs ...

I'm not finished. *sigh* But I'll finish it soon. :o)

8.02.2007

16 hrs ...

... it might be close :o)

7.31.2007

12 hrs ...

... and I so should be working. BAD Cabbie.

All the beading done on skirt. Little disappointed, they sent the wrong skirting beads w/the kit so I stole a pkg from my ... um ... something Mira. :o) I don't remember now.

It'll probably take me longer to fill in the clock w/the braiding than to do the rest of the stitch. heh.

New project and pictures

I got the start bug last night, (I'm guessin' that at least a few of you know what I'm talking of :o) and was eyeballin' Mira's New Year's Fairy. Kept looking and kept looking and said to myself 'I can DO this ... in a day!' Heh. Kid ya not. It's a challenge. To myself. I'm talking 24 hrs here, total, not in running sequence.
Here is progress at 6 hrs and then at 9 (when I decided to stop)...
I'm using the Crescent Colors that came with the kit, but changed the 32 ct icky brown for this Sugar Maple fabric called Zeus. I've put some of the braiding on, and the dress main color is all there, but have none of the beading done. It's fun to do, mainly because it's going so quickly. :o)
The right pic is true to color, the left is just for the 'sparkle'.
And here is the current progress on my Villa Mira. Just a few holes to fill and the dress is (finally!) completely done. Still a long way to go - probably why I decided to do a quickie ... change of pace. Yanno? :o)
Wow, the Villa M is totally clickable, the other 2 ... meh. :o)
Happy Monday ladies!
Dont'cha hate it when Blogger decided to 'edit' your paragraphs for you. Grrrr. Anyone know, is this just a setting I've missed or is it a Blogger glitch?

New Years Wishes

I wish everyone a safe and fun New Year!

I wish blogger would upload pictures 1/2 as well as it did before it changed. *sigh*

Be Careful All!!
