Are we ready ??? My first 2008 HD!

I finished it!! Well, except for the beads I ran out of, which is about 1/2 of the purple beading on the urn. I kinda obsessed over it the last coupla weeks, but it was worth it. I started this 05-07 then stopped for about 3 or 4 mths when I didn't work on it at all. So, I figure this baby took me about 4-5 mths to do. Give or take.

Here are my crappy cell phone pics, I'll have a better, finished pic when I deal with my beading. Yanno. ;o) But she's done.

This picture is how I ended up dealing with my name on the ribbon. I tried a coupla different ways but ended up with this one. It seemed best with the curving of the ribbon. I like it, that's what matters ... well, that and I was tired of frogging. heh. (btw, it really isn't as bad as it looks on the fuzzy picture. :o)

So, this chart is up for grabs. Anyone want it? I never, ever wanna look at this thing again. Other than to mail it off anyway.

I haven't decided yet what I'm going to work on now. I have a couple of things that are very close to being finished and I'm not really ... excited ... about a new start as of yet, even with all the things I have kitted up so we'll see.

Quick Pic

OK, kinda crappy picture, but I have the bottom finished, except for the name that I haven't graphed out yet. (I'm going to put my name on it "Villa Michelle" but I don't like that the letters are straight across the ribbon and it's curved). Still got other stuff to do to keep me busy so I'm not too concerned yet.

Heck, here's a close-up so you can see what I mean about the curved ribbon thingie. And the colors. And the wrinkles. ;o)

Hope everyone is having fun with their holiday preps.

Quick VM update

This is the ribbon at the bottom where my name will be. Wanna hear something scary (in a good way) ... I'm almost done with this baby. Finally. I have this flower set to do on the other side and my name, a lot of little filler work and then the outside border (2x's around) and I'll be done. Wow. Can I just say ... it's about TIME! Sheesh. ;o)

Happy Tuesday Ladies!

Still working on VM

Here is the urn; basically finished but for the beading. This is an 8" hoop (to give you some perspective) so this baby is a beast. She just keeps growing, but in a good way. :o)

Just had a thought from an old stitching question from awhile back, about whether or not you concerned yourself with how the back of your stitching looks. I've never thought of it until I got that question and now I actually think about it when I stitch. Odd. Oh well, at least I didn't embarrass myself too much. heh.

Done shopping yet?! ;o)

Just a quick update on VM

This is what I've done in the last few days. I hadn't realized how substantial the urn and greenery were until I started stitching 'em.

Get this: my new all-in-one that I'm so impressed with, I just found out today that the black ink refill will cost me $120.00 ... for one little refill. I just about fell over. I paid a penny less than that to *buy* the entire thing! Good thing I paid extra to buy the year's warranty as well, I'm getting the feeling something is going to happen to that thing and it's going to need replacing.

Lovely day ladies!

Watch out ... a stitching update.

I've decided to take a break from editing, typing, printing, layout, drawing, etc of my book and show ya'll an update on what I have been stitching ... Villa Mira lately ... here is the last pic I posted (from July 30th!!) with the dress almost completely finished.
And here is what I have as of today ... if you can get past the wrinkled fabric. ;-)

And can I just say "WOW" to my new all-in-one?! Whadda difference from the old one that blew up.

And can I also just point out the hazards of blindly following the instructions. }:-\ See the purple below her ear? I questioned whether or not to just do what it said ... "Maybe it's a special flower or something?". Pssht. Frog away my lady ... frog away.

Here's a coupla things I started: A biscornu front on Silkweaver somethingorother 20 ct with Soie Cristale Silks by Caron; and a Halloween scissor fob I made ... twice. 1st is the tiny one (with a new dollar next to it for scale) that I finished and am not quite sure what I think, and then I decided to try 2/2 on the same fabric. I decided I didn't like it so big so it's still sitting there.

And that's all I can show as the other things I've been working on are PIF gifts. (Aren't ya'll glad you were sitting down for that comment?! ;o)

Sorry I'm so bad on posting lately, I'm so wrapped up in this danged book I can't see much else. I hope ya'll understand, and thanks for the well wishes ladies!!

New project and pictures

I got the start bug last night, (I'm guessin' that at least a few of you know what I'm talking of :o) and was eyeballin' Mira's New Year's Fairy. Kept looking and kept looking and said to myself 'I can DO this ... in a day!' Heh. Kid ya not. It's a challenge. To myself. I'm talking 24 hrs here, total, not in running sequence.
Here is progress at 6 hrs and then at 9 (when I decided to stop)...
I'm using the Crescent Colors that came with the kit, but changed the 32 ct icky brown for this Sugar Maple fabric called Zeus. I've put some of the braiding on, and the dress main color is all there, but have none of the beading done. It's fun to do, mainly because it's going so quickly. :o)
The right pic is true to color, the left is just for the 'sparkle'.
And here is the current progress on my Villa Mira. Just a few holes to fill and the dress is (finally!) completely done. Still a long way to go - probably why I decided to do a quickie ... change of pace. Yanno? :o)
Wow, the Villa M is totally clickable, the other 2 ... meh. :o)
Happy Monday ladies!
Dont'cha hate it when Blogger decided to 'edit' your paragraphs for you. Grrrr. Anyone know, is this just a setting I've missed or is it a Blogger glitch?

7.23.2007

Just a ... few pictures :o)

Lemme see what we got going on here:

First:
I have dishcloths and towels that a neighbor asked me to make for her. Different colors, same pattern. They're all made with 2 different colors of bedspread cotton together.
I've made these type of things for myself at various times thruout my life and I never end up using them as towels or dishcloths. They usually end up under plants. :o)

Second: I have scarves. Lots and lotsa scarves. I found this yarn and fell in love with it so I (typically) made a scarf. Then another, and so on, and so on. And now I have about 10 in various colors. I've given away quite a few as well, but hey, never too early to make Xmas presents, right?! :o) And b'sides, I can make them in the car when I'm sitting, it takes about 3 days to make one, so it's convenient.

Here is purple, cream, lime green (the sickly yellow looking one :o( damn scanner) and a pretty leaf-green one.

Thirdly: update on my Villa Mira - I haven't had much of a chance to work on this lately, but I'm slowly getting it done. I don't like the pictures colors, but hey, cell phone pic again. Yanno. I put the floss bobbin there to show how big she's getting. Matter o' fact ... one sec ... lemme try something ... Ah. Better. A little more true-to-color via the scanner.

And THEN: I got this Mira New Years Fairy Kit in the mail from Jenn that I bought from her. (Thank you again Jenn!)

But the big Oh My Gawd came with this in the mail:

This little beauty (Mira's Petal Fairy) came to me, completely free of charge from Sharon just because she knows how much I enjoy my Mira's. :o) Not only did she send the chart, but all the floss and kreinik as well!! How sweet is Sharon?!!!
I've been RAK'd, and love it. Thank you so much Sharon and I've got a little sumpin sumpin coming to you as well, as a thank you. :o) Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
I've finally caught up with my loads of feeds. I've made a few comments here n there, but I'm not much on commenting anyway, but WOW, beautiful things are being made here. You ladies are amazing.

6.20.2007

A lil' more progress ...

I FINALLY finished this danged long-assed ribbon. Jeez. Thing took forever. Well, if forever is 3 days long. :) Sorry for the bad cell phone pics but she's gotten way too big for the scanner. I just might hafta buy myself a camera some day. *sigh*

And this other pic is a drawing I did last night on one of my deposit envelopes for work while sitting around waiting for something to pop off. Times like this I kinda wish I could draw in color, or at the very least had some sort of marketable abilities with this drawing 'talent' I have. Ya know, it took me better part of 25 years to believe that I am talented at drawing. (Among other things)

Edited 6/21 3:30p: I just wanted to throw this in here instead of making another post, I started this today and worked on it for 4 hrs so far. I'm making it for a lady from my other blog (believe it or not :o). She's big on the coast, so I'm hoping she'll like this bookmark. This is in the newest Just Cross Stitch mag. Not much left to do now so hopefully I can finish it today before I gotta head off to work.

Also, this is a store bought (JoAnn's) bookmark w/crochet along the edge. 18 ct. I've been waiting for a reason to use this. :o)

6.17.2007

Another 4 days gone ...

And this is what I've got. You can tell where her hand is going to be ... I've found I like to keep to one basic color scheme when I can. One ribbon (however many colors), that type of thing.

Now, is it just me or does Nora seem to ... flake when it comes to the appendages? :o) Her girls always seem to have flawless colors and design, their faces and skin are beautiful and serene but they all seem to end up with flippers for hands and feet. I find this funny as all get out.
Anyway ladies, I wish you all a lovely weekend!

6.12.2007

Well, it's been 11 days

And this is what I've gotten done. It's a hunk o' stitching, but nowhere
near done. It's already too big for my scanner. Here's one Mira I'm not going to finish quickly. :o)

The color of this ribbon isn't exactly blowing up my skirt, if ya know what I mean. I'm guessing it's going to grow on me as I go along.

For Kathy: 28 ct. Silkweaver Antique Gold.

6.01.2007

Villa M progress

Doesn't look like much yet (which is why I put the pic up next to it, but I tell ya, these squares are time intensive. I picked the largest set of colors to start off with so I could fool my mind into thinking that it's all downhill from here. :o)
Happy weekend everyone!!

5.25.2007

I'll never look at checkers the same way ...

I started this about 4 days ago and I've already started dreaming about squares. Argh! This is one Mira I can tell is going to take awhile. I think it's because I'm working this one on linen. I have to be careful of my needle placement and how hard I tug on the thread.

This is 28 ct Silkweaver Antique Gold Linen that I bought off Carol awhile back. When I first started I thought the fabric was going to wash out the stitching but now I'm really starting to like it.

Oh, and this is Villa Mirabilia.

AND I hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend!!
