If anyone is interested ...

http://www.favecrafts.com/Crochet-Afghans/Weve-Got-You-Covered-25-Crochet-and-Knit-Throws-free-eBook-from-Red-Heart-Yarns/ml/1#Easy_Crochet_Afghans

I've recently found favecrafts.com for my crocheting but they have just about every kind of crafting you could ever want on there, and they're all free.

The link above is for their free ebook from Red Heart yarns that has 25 afghans to be made, mostly crochet and a couple of knitting. Granted, there's only 2 on there I would consider but hey, who couldn't use more crap downloaded to their 'puter?! :)

Happy wknd all!

Still working on Stargazer ...

This is where I am now. Moving right along. I guess this would be day 14, tho not consecutively. Still a ways to go. Been thinking of working on something else though, all that blue is getting to me.

The last couple of pictures I took with my cell phone when I was picking up a customer t'other morning. I thought this hanging basket looked like it had a bunch of baby butterflies on it. Pretty, pretty.

Oh, you're gonna love this ...

That fat little black cat to the right there ----> I thought he was just cute 'cuz you can roll your mouse around him and he'll chase it with his paws. BUT, I just realized that if you put the mouse on his face he'll meow and if you put it on his chest he PURRS!! How cute is that??! :o)

Remember Mr Peterman on Seinfeld?

When I found out that he was doing a parody of an actual company I signed up for their sales magazines because they are written exactly as he speaks in the show. This mag has been cracking me up for years now. Here's why:

This is the dress ----------->

Here's the dialogue:

She shimmered into my mind when I saw this gorgeous thing in Mexico City‘s Bazar de Antiguedades.

Not Frida Kahlo the politically aware artist, with her flamboyant colors and themes, but the sparkling, innocent creature who preceeded her.

A virginal skirt from Oaxaca, perhaps?

The shop owner, a chic little sparrow, shook her head “no.” A lavish petticoat from about 1890, actually.

I’m sure both Fridas would agree with me that we should never let mere facts get in our way.

Vintage Ruffle Skirt (No. 1514). Pure linen, bias-cut and longer at front and back, with V-pattern rows of cotton batiste ruffles. Georgette lining. Side zipper plus hook-and-eye at waistband.

Dance in it, flounce in it, flirt in it, it can’t lose the innocence.

Women’s sizes: 4 through 16.

Color: Blue.

Every one of their items for sale has a story to it. I find this incredibly amusing. I wasn't that big of a Seinfeld fan when they were running, but I have a fondness for their antics. :o)

By the way: Finished this little Betty up earlier. Brooke Burke's "Summer Pantry". I got it as a freebie for joining her interactive group. (Anyone can get it if they join) I think it's cute, but I can't imagine I would EVER have a starfish in ANY of my pantries - no matter the season. ;o)

It's almost 4 X 4 on 32 ct "Evergreen" by enchanted fabrics.

So happy weekend ladies!

At what point ...

do you get a bit irritated about this:

I bid and won something on eBay. Nothing big, just a sampler pattern (I went sampler crazy and ordered about 10 of them this last coupla weeks. I was in a mood to do some samplers and lay off the Mira's for a bit. :o)
So I sent payment and rec'd an email back from the seller saying "thanks for the pmt, I rec'd it yesterday. I'm burying my mother tomorrow, I'll get back to eBay when I can. Thanks for your understanding."
This was 12 days ago. The person has lotsa good feedback, and I'm really not all THAT concerned about it (I only paid $10 for it). Do I send a "gentle" reminder? I AM sympathetic, and I do understand, but still, it's the principle of the thing, right?

BTW: I started on "The Sampler Lady" from Little House Needleworks a few days ago. I'm about 2/3 done.

BTW II: For that matter I started and finished a freebie from Tante's Zolder that I just HAD to do.

BTW III: And eventually, I'll be able to do pics on here ... I got my all-in-one hooked up to print (had to download the driver) but I haven't figured out the other direction yet. I'll get it ... eventually ... after I'm done playing with my new iPod. I finally broke down and got one. My cab was in the shop a few days ago and I had to drive someone else's ... it didn't have a radio!! I thought I was gonna DIE!!

Anyway ladies, I wish you a lovely weekend! The Cubbies game is off rain delay now, must stitch and watch!

Golly ...

... it's been awhile.

I've been stitching a bit on my afghan - I have 4 squares almost completed so far, but I've opted to not do the braiding w/the type of cotton this is so I'm working on thread to replace those. I will be adding in the beads though. Later. Much later. I'm also thinking that this is going to be a good way to use up a lot of those Mira's that I own but probably wouldn't have stitched. You don't realize how big 100 X 100 squares are until you stitch a few different designs. :o)

I've been working more on crocheting though. I've started one granny square afghan - am about 2/3 of the way done with it - then I found another granny pattern I liked better and started that one about 2 weeks ago. I'm almost done with it. I really like it. I can't help it ... it's baseball season and I can crochet w/out paying as much attention as I must when I XS. I'll show pictures whenever I get around to either buying a new camera (I don't own one) or buy another printer/scanner.

The story:

I had to buy another 'puter. My old one died about a year ago (virus) so I had to mind wipe the entire thing. It worked fine until a few weeks ago, another virus and it just got old so I had to take it out to the back 40 and put 'er down. I cried. Apparently no one liked my old 'puter 'cuz no one showed for the funeral.

Plus side: I got a brand new, reeeally fast 'puter w/a big ol' flat screen and lots o' stuff to play with.
Bad side: It has Vista. And all the issues that came with Vista. But MS is phasing out XP.
Bad side: Vista works with every single Brother All-in-one EXCEPT mine. Just will not accept it.
Bad side: No printer/scanner = no photo uploads. At all. Or print outs. I have folders FULL of XS patterns I find on the web and print out. Now I have bookmarks with loads o' stuff to print out when I get a printer.

Other than that I've been doing quite a bit of reading of blogs and books. Busier at work as well, more people out with the weather. This is going to be the busiest 2 weeks of our year with our Rose Festival starting today. We already have ships coming in so there are sailors out meeting all the single girls. :Sigh:

I love watching what you ladies are making. :o)

Have a lovely weekend.

The 2nd half

Of "Welcome, Spring" is done but for the buttons I need. I just decided to bite the bullet and finish it. I think it's cute.

I hope everyone has a lovely 1st of spring day, and a beautiful weekend.

1.14.2008

Everyone is doing this one right??

This 12 month SAL freebie? It's called the "Rose Sampler". It's only 3 colors (of your choosing of course). I just thought it was cute. I'm going to be doing mine in gray's on some purple Silkweaver Dusk that I've had laying around for a bit.

Here's the link: http://www.maurer-stroh.com/project2008_1.html Go check it out. :o)

Watch out ... a stitching update.

I've decided to take a break from editing, typing, printing, layout, drawing, etc of my book and show ya'll an update on what I have been stitching ... Villa Mira lately ... here is the last pic I posted (from July 30th!!) with the dress almost completely finished.
And here is what I have as of today ... if you can get past the wrinkled fabric. ;-)

And can I just say "WOW" to my new all-in-one?! Whadda difference from the old one that blew up.

And can I also just point out the hazards of blindly following the instructions. }:-\ See the purple below her ear? I questioned whether or not to just do what it said ... "Maybe it's a special flower or something?". Pssht. Frog away my lady ... frog away.

Here's a coupla things I started: A biscornu front on Silkweaver somethingorother 20 ct with Soie Cristale Silks by Caron; and a Halloween scissor fob I made ... twice. 1st is the tiny one (with a new dollar next to it for scale) that I finished and am not quite sure what I think, and then I decided to try 2/2 on the same fabric. I decided I didn't like it so big so it's still sitting there.

And that's all I can show as the other things I've been working on are PIF gifts. (Aren't ya'll glad you were sitting down for that comment?! ;o)

Sorry I'm so bad on posting lately, I'm so wrapped up in this danged book I can't see much else. I hope ya'll understand, and thanks for the well wishes ladies!!

I'm back, and making something else now!

Here's Mira's Halloween Fairy. I traded my New Years Fairy chart and leftover floss to Jules @ Torkard Threads for her Halloween Fairy and floss. I got this in the mail on the 24th so this is 4 days of working on her. I'm putting her on 32 ct Silkweaver 'Rocky Mountain', they seem to go together well.

I tell ya, that living in the hotel ... for the birds. Hated every minute of it. I missed my 'stuff', ya know? I hadn't realized how attached to my stand and Ott Lite I am.

For the record, no, I wasn't sitting on the toilet when it fell. I came home to a horrible stench. Wanna see??? (the floor, not the stench :o) And before anyone asks, no, the termites did not cut that perfect rectangle in the wood. This is the part that had to be replaced, all the rest was fine.

This is the after. I've been here just over 7 yrs now so I got a whole new linoleum update too as the other stuff was so old they don't have it any longer. And I so miss the Salmon Sparkle wall paint with that pretty baby blue linoleum. ;o)
