Watch out ... a stitching update.

I've decided to take a break from editing, typing, printing, layout, drawing, etc of my book and show ya'll an update on what I have been stitching ... Villa Mira lately ... here is the last pic I posted (from July 30th!!) with the dress almost completely finished.
And here is what I have as of today ... if you can get past the wrinkled fabric. ;-)

And can I just say "WOW" to my new all-in-one?! Whadda difference from the old one that blew up.

And can I also just point out the hazards of blindly following the instructions. }:-\ See the purple below her ear? I questioned whether or not to just do what it said ... "Maybe it's a special flower or something?". Pssht. Frog away my lady ... frog away.

Here's a coupla things I started: A biscornu front on Silkweaver somethingorother 20 ct with Soie Cristale Silks by Caron; and a Halloween scissor fob I made ... twice. 1st is the tiny one (with a new dollar next to it for scale) that I finished and am not quite sure what I think, and then I decided to try 2/2 on the same fabric. I decided I didn't like it so big so it's still sitting there.

And that's all I can show as the other things I've been working on are PIF gifts. (Aren't ya'll glad you were sitting down for that comment?! ;o)

Sorry I'm so bad on posting lately, I'm so wrapped up in this danged book I can't see much else. I hope ya'll understand, and thanks for the well wishes ladies!!

More hats and progress and some stash!

I found this lovely "tweed" yarn at JoAnn's Superstore t'other day so decided to make a few hats outta this soft stuff. Then thought they were kinda boring so I made the row w/holes in it. Then decided to make some flowers to put on them as well. I'm likin' 'em now. Although they take a little more time to make the flowers and attach, still pretty enough.

I can't find the camera so this is the progress on my WQ. This is the entire right side of her cloak and the middle is her skirt. Slow but sure. Had a not so pretty distraction the last coupla days so I've been preoccupied. :o(

Early Thanksgiving morning John (the ex) wrecked his cab due to a freak hail storm. There was about a mile square that had about 1/4" of hail, and nowhere else. It was weird. Anyway, he hit it on an offramp and lost traction, did a coupla 360's and hit the guard rail head on. He wasn't going that fast but it blew his airbags. He probably would have been fine, all things considered, except when the airbags blew the drivers' bag hit his face, which is now basically a big open wound. It's nast-eeeee. :o{ He went to the doc's yesterday for some back pain - nothing serious. And his face is healing. But it was kinda freaky at the time. I'm not w/the guy any longer, but I don't wish him ill. (Unless it's the kinda I inflict on him!)

Imagine: we're chatting on the phone, I'm downtown at the McD's drive thru and he's on his way to pick up someone. He's driving along and:

He: Oh wow! This road is ... Oh Shit! OH SHIT I'M ... " click.

I'm sitting there going ... duhhhhh. His phone won't go thru. I have the dispatcher start yelling for him on the radio and then I start freaking out on the poor guy in the truck in front of me in the drive thru. (Poor guy will probably never forget this Thanksgiving!)

It was wild. And not in a good way.
Totally forgot that I got these little lovelies in the mail a few days ago. I thought they were SO cute, and now I'm gonna hafta order the "Chickadees" as well ... they're aDORable!! (You can see them at the bottom of this pic)

Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying their holiday preparations!

G rated cab story

I went out for about 6 hrs last night, picked up MANY costumed people, some not so much.

* there was the 2 HUGE football players decked out in the Hooters waitress outfits
* the PERFECT Captain Morgan. Wouldn't have surprised me a bit if he wasn't paid by the company, it was so cool
* the oh-so-wrong young man dressed up as - I kid you not - JonBenet Ramsey. He raised a few eyebrows.
* and then there was the guy I picked up that wasn't wearing a costume, but was making rude comments about everyone that was. A LOT of rude comments.

Me: Oh come on now, relax. It's a night to let yourself go and have a good time. At least they look they're happy, as compared to the ones that aren't wearing costumes but complaining about everyone else.

He just kinda eyeballed me for a second and said "And what are you dressed as? Let me guess, you're supposed to be a 'cab driver' eh?"

Me: Nope. I'm masquerading as the results of a misspent youth.

He didn't get it. :o)
