Is this bitchy of me?

You all know I signed up for St Petersburg, it's due to start on 3/1. I'm all good with everything so far, although I'm getting a little bit ... anxious about not having a DMC conversion yet. Martina put out the supplies list on 2/4 and said she'd have the conversion out "Probably by friday". So it's been 10 days and no word yet. Someone finally decided to ask and this is the response she got from Martina ...

Mary and all,

it really does not help to send emails - I am doing what I can but I have other things to do as well and each claims to be the most important tast.... I think that I will have it ready on Friday.

kind regards, Martina Weber "Châtelaine" -- Design and NeedleartsDuisburg/Germany

Now, I can understand being busy and all. But I'm just a wee bit irritated about this little snippy response. I mean, we're paying her damned good money to do this, her "Job". (you get paid to do something, it's a service so I would expect some customer service for my money. Just the way the world of commerce works. Or so I thought.)

Am I wrong in thinking this way or am I just being bitchy?

I mean, damn, I go out of my way to be polite to people in my car that are WAY more of a pain than the letter that Mary sent to Martina. It's my job, what I get paid for.

Ah hell, you know what I mean. I just get irritated with people that say they're going to do something, then don't come through. Especially if it's something you're getting paid to do.

I could go on and on about this particular subject. But I'm done.

Hope you all had a lovely VD!!

I don't think it's bitchy at all. And that's where I'm going to have to not voice some of my more entertaining thoughts on the subject! LOL

Hi - I have been in a few of Martina's groups in the past and have, at times, felt her communication was terse. It was explained to me by others that her German culture is at the root of it.. but, well, I am a German American, so I didn't know how to take that. I totally get how you are feeling! I do love Martina, though. It's just so hard to wait, I am sure!

I've written a long comment twice today, but then decided that I'd best just say that no....that's not being %^&*!# at ALL - I would feel the exact same way.

Nope, not bitchy at all-I can see why.I would be a tad affronted if I had received that reply. Just take a deep breath-it will be all good.

When I got that email I too thought it was a bit abrupt. But I suppose emailing her won't get it done any faster.

I think you have a very valid point and not the least bit bitchy.

No, I don't think it's bitchy at all. Luckly the conversion was posted today. I agree with the ladies, it is very hard to be patient, specially when you are paying for a good.

I've felt once or twice that she can be a bit terse too.It's not nice feeling you're being a nuisance when you've paid for a service. {{hugs}}

I don't know what to make of that either - her charts are about double the price of most other designers, and I'd hope there was some level of service coming out of that.

I agree with Carol, it could be just a cultural thing. I've worked for German before too and they've always been a bit "distant" and unpersonal with stuff like this. I wouldn't take it personally or think negatively about it.

It may be partly cultural; it may be that her English skills aren't all that great; it may be that the text-format nature of email lacks the visual cues of face-to-face communication; it may be all of these. I got that email, too, and also think it was rather more abrupt than necessary. And now we'll probably both be flamed for failing to genuflect at the altar of Chatelaine.

I had a similar sounding e-mail from her, when I asked why I wasn't okayed to the Yahoo group one week after I had paypal'ed the money. She sent a rather snitty reply and it still took 3 more days to list me. Well, as long as it was done....:-P
