I made this last night ...

This is the top sheet for my bed, I opted to go w/the orange 'cuz I thought it was a bit more appropriate w/the polka dots on the sheets. As you can see the ecru I put on the pillowcases faded to something ... not quite right.

Anyway, I have 4 pillows on the bed so 2 more cases to purdy up.

So, if I don't say anything in the next few days I hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving!

A full sized 3 DAY blanket!!

Daaaaaang ... sometimes I'm so good I scare myself. heh :)

Some pictures!

1st up, I made another couple of Xmas garlands. I had to kill some time and the roommie begged me to make her some for her tree this year. So far she has 3, all 3 feet long. These things take about 2 hrs to complete.

Next is THE blanket. I made it for this guy friend of mine who's 6' 4" and about 160 lbs (and terrified of the cold :) so I whipped out this blanket to keep his skinny heiny warm. It's a little taller, and not as wide, which is probably why it only took me 3 days to make. A total of 20 hrs. Impressed the heck outta me. But I really like it and who couldn't love a 3 day blanket, eh?

Also started another for his sick aunt who he is going to visit in a week. Almost 1/2 done and sadly, ran out of one color. Hit every Michael's and JoAnn's in town and none of them have it. Pssht. But it's one of Vanna's color, imagine someone else will have it. Somewhere.

Anyway ladies, have a lovely Friday!

New tp holder ...

I made this for the bathroom last night. Bought the yarn while shopping 2 days ago ... I can never find an orange that isn't obnoxious to me so this was perfect. It's Caron Simply Soft called Mango.

This is my window ... I'm a day sleeper and these help keep the light out while it's still warm enough to keep the windows open. I'm sure I'll get or make some curtains soon ... it's getting colder at night now.

And I'm putting this on here because it amuses me ... roommate got a coupla kittens about a week ago. They're about 8 wks old, boy and girl. They came in my room and were wandering about. Boy cat so much more than girl cat - she's sickly and sadly, died last night. (whoooo ... DRAMA!) Anyway, this is boy cat crawling on my desk lamp. Standing on the remote. :) I thought he was cute.

Since she got the new cat the old one has kinda parked his fat self in my room. He's old and strangely looks just like my old fat, black cat. :) I think I'm giving him an identity crisis as I keep calling him Kraemer. heh

Lovely Monday all!

I made these last night ...

for the roommate. She has this "thing" for Halloween. Actually made 3 then ran out of black.

Happy Thurs all!

It took me a week to make this ...

Just finished this morning and I'm lovin' it. Even without the face. :)

Caron Just Soft yarn and a pattern off the 'net.

It might eventually get a face, although the last doll I made didn't. She's still hanging out on my bed, 6 yrs later ... still faceless.

And just 'cuz ... pretty much my only vanity is my hair. I have a lot of it (it's long enough to sit on)
and I love it. I'm allowed, right? :)

Since I've worked so much for the last few yrs the only thing I ever do to it is braid it and go to work. Only cut it 1X/yr. I took this pic t'other day and comparing it to one I took about 4 yrs ago. My bangs (which are hanging out of the braid here) were even with my chin. We're looking at about a foot in 4 yrs.

Makes me wonder what everyday wear and tear does to it as I don't remember it ever growing that quickly before. Or maybe I just never paid attention.

So that's the vanity portion of this post ...

Happy Tuesday all!

What *else* I'm up to:

Another of those "pillow"s from Lucy @ Attic 24. This time for the roommate, she wanted me to make one to cover up a roll of TP to sit on the etagere. This is the top done and I'm working down the outside. It's not the same pattern, so much. It is curved because I'm doing it ascending/descending sizes. (I don't know how else to put that) ... small to big to small. :)

The third picture is the results of me wandering through the yarn store and finding this lovely, soft yarn and having a screaming urge to make something... anything. So ... granny blanket!! They're easy and quick. Aaaaaand boring. SO. I decided to make a bunch of these little tiny granny squares and make a row of them. Be interesting to see how it turns out, but it isn't hideous so I'm still working on it. ;) This is about 3 days.

Caron Simply Soft yarn ... this stuff is so soft, and not expensive. Jury is still out on whether or not it lasts but golly it's soft!

Happy Thursday!

Pillowcase

Nah, I didn't crochet 'em together. I did find out w/the last one I did that this particular color of thread will fade w/washing so this wknd when I wash the sheets I'll see if it fades to the same color as the other one.

Happy Weds ladies!

Another pillowcase down

2 more to go. Then the top sheet. Doesn't take long to hook these, just a pain to poke all the holes w/the needle.

Haven't worked a'tall on my big doily lately. I did start crocheting a blanket for my friends dog. :) I like her. (the dog) (wait ... the friend too) I'll take a picture soon.

Putting about 1 or 2 floss lengths into my TW Tradewinds as well. Slowly but surely plugging away.

Hope y'all are having a lovely and safe holiday!

Another scarf I'll never wear.

I bought this yarn because I liked the pattern on the packaging then decided I liked the yarn but not for that pattern. This is pretty much the only pastel variegated yarn I've found - so far - that I like. I only had one skein so ... one scarf. This is an incredibly simple pattern I got from the Lion Yarn website via Pinterest.

And the yarn: Caron's Simply Soft. And it is.

Lovely Weds y'all

This is the doily book ...

I got the pic off Amazon - the book is only $8.95 if you get it from them.

The first doily I did is the one in the upper right corner (the one w/the wrong colored thread) and the one I'm working on now is the big one on the front. I'm loving this one. ;)

I highly recommend getting it if you like doilies ... these are different.

Well, I might as well throw this in here ~ this is where I am as of late last night. Looooong way to go. Try not to notice one of the "diamonds" is a little open. I fought w/this row for hours last night. Tore it out about 4 times ... irritated was I. Sheesh. Then was so excited that the numbers actually matched up that I didn't even notice that diamond until just now when I posted the picture. Eh.

Toodles!

8.27.2011

gimme some thread and a crochet hook ...

and I just can't help it. I'm gonna make a little of everything! :)

This white thing is one half of a "doily" I'm making for my roommate. She has one of those little oval shaped coffee tables ... the other 1/2 is exactly the same. The flowers and leaves are to be put on both sides of the circle to hold everything together. I just need to attach these now.

3rd picture is of how much green I had left after making the 4 leaves. Whew.

And then this last pic is a doily I started last night while sitting at the airport waiting in my cab for someone to need a ride. It's going to be pretty big and elaborate. I haven't tried anything complicated in awhile and decided to give it a shot.

I think I scared a few of the boys by doing this girly stuff. I keep telling them that I'm a girl and not just one of the guys. Every once in awhile I like to surprise 'em. heh

Happy Weekend y'all!

Crochet

First I have the finished doily. Finally went and bought the yarn, finished it and then while admiring my handiwork the next day (in the sun) realized that the yarn color is slightly off. ::sigh:: Dye lots. They are your friend.

This next thing is a bracelet/cuff thing I saw someone had made and wanted to make one myself. Meh. Nothing spectacular. Since I'm not the type of girl to have buttons laying around to use for these type of things I just made one that I'm calling a flower. I can do that. It's my thing.

I've made a couple more since this one last night. This one is slightly too big, the next was a little too small but I decided I liked it enough to figure out some sort of connecting method since the flower thing won't work for this one. I'm thinking some sort of ... I don't know what to call it. Remember when you were much younger and your pants didn't quite fit so you used a rubber band through the hole and then back to the button? That sort of thing.

Heh ... remember that?? :)

Happy Tuesday all !

XS and Crochet ...

I worked a little more on TW's Tradewinds - bottom right corner is mostly done.

And this other picture is me being bored and wanting to crochet and being out of yarn. :) This is one of my pillowcases, I decided to put an edging on it. Only 3 more to go. And quite probably the top sheet. I only have a single bed so shouldn't be too hard it's a lack of motivation thing I have to deal w/since I went and got some yarn last night and now have 3 different things started. heh I have yarn ADD.

That should be my blog title ... Crafting ADD ... hmmmmm. I'm getting kinda tired of Craftee Cab. :)

Happy Weds ya'll.

Doily

This is as far as I got then ran out of yarn/thread. Alas ... it's off to ye old yarn store for me. :)

8.03.2011

More crochet ...

I was looking for something in the closet today and found a doily-only book I got some time back so I immediately forgot what I was looking for and started flipping thru the book. Then started this one.

It's 19 rows into 28 and about the size of a dinner plate so far. I'm liking it too. Anything I can make in a day or two is big in my book. :) I keep forgetting (or maybe blocking) that I need to get some polyfil for the Mario doll I wanna make. But I do have all the yarns. ::sigh:: Some day. You know.

Happy Weds Ladies!!

I don't know what to call this thing ...

... so I'm just calling it a tree swinger. Ya know how you hang something shiny from your tree(s) and it scares off birds? I made a couple of these things yesterday. It's double sided, same pattern attached at the corners.

Very quick and easy to make.

Gonna be a busy weekend in Ptown this time around: Brew Fest. Whoot. :)

Happy weekend!

Crochet footstool cover

Made this while watching a movie earlier. Movie: "Season of the Witch" w/Nic Cage. Not so good. Kinda like the footstool cover tho. :)

I was flipping thru Ravelry - drooling and whatnot and found a blanket that I thought was cute, but only the inner circle. So I made it. Then added the outside edging until it looked good then ran outta yarn. :)

While I was eyeballing it I put it on the footstool and said "Hmmm ... it's the exact same size ... !"

So I added the gold edging, then another edging round w/the cut outs to hold it on. I might make a few more of these some time. :)

And yes, I looooove Lucy's stuff. Although it's not usually my style (I'm not that into bright colors) I still love most everything she makes.

Toodles!

7.26.2011

More crocheting ...

Another scarf made with some very lovely, VERY soft yarn. I had to do something with it. :)

The other 2 pics are a pot holder made from the pattern I got from Lucy at Attic24. She made this into a beautiful pillow cushion w/all these different colors, I don't have that many just laying about so I used some filet thread left over from my dishcloth escapades and kept going until I ran out.

The flat side is the back. Don't know that I'd use it as a potholder but it's kinda cute.

Happy Tuesday all!

7.19.2011

In the spirit of "I can do that!" ...

I found a picture on someone's blog and decided I could make what was in the picture (instead of paying for the pattern, I know, bad of me but it isn't the same so .... :)

Anyway ... Pictures! It's a baby dress that I modified as I went along (aka: I was running out of yarn)

The 1 close up is of the pattern itself, the other is what I did with the shoulder to make it a bit more substantial.

Also added the white along all the edges and the extra rows of white towards the bottom. As I was going along I was running out of the green with not quite enough to be long enough for a dress so I added the white then more green. When I finished I had exactly 18" of green left. Whew.

Too bad I don't know anyone w/a girl child that's about 6 mths old. :) Took me about 4 hrs to make.

6.14.2011

It's one of those days ...

I start out with this OH so lovely yarn that I've had sitting in a special place because oh my this stuff is just ... lovely. :) If you click on it you can just see the lovely scattered all over this stuff. It's so soft and shiny and expensive. :)

And then 15 minutes later I have this mess. :(

Lovin' life right at this moment lemme tell ya.

Although, I'm sitting here watching Paula Deen make Nutella and banana crepes and holy criminy they look tasty. They have GOT to be bad for you but yummy looking. :)

Happy Tuesday
